We map markets, identify white space, and invest in product development opportunities that align with where the defense landscape is headed. Our founder's experience building product roadmaps and growth strategies for defense firms of all sizes means we know how to separate signal from noise — and put capital behind the right bets.

We create training programs, build promotion pathways, and address organizational bottlenecks through targeted hiring and internal development. Great businesses run on great teams, and we invest in ours accordingly.

Project Investment

Every business has a backlog of positive-NPV projects that were deferred due to cash flow constraints or long payback periods. We identify those opportunities and fund them. Our 30-year horizon means we can invest in projects that others would pass on.

Meet the Founder

Chester Pennock

Chester founded Lockwood Capital with a conviction that the best defense businesses are built by patient, hands-on operators — not financial engineers.

Before launching Lockwood, Chester was an engagement manager at McKinsey & Company, where he built growth strategies, product roadmaps, and investment cases for defense clients ranging from the largest primes to venture- and PE-backed defense technology companies. He holds an MBA with a concentration in finance from Northwestern's Kellogg School of Management and a BA in Economics from Emory University, where he played varsity soccer and served as a teaching assistant in cell biology.

Chester's path to investing was unconventional. He grew up in a town of 1,000 people in North Carolina and spent a year living in Puebla, Mexico as a child. After Emory, he joined Teach For America and taught middle school science in Prince George's County, Maryland, where he also coached the soccer team to a county championship. That experience — developing young people, building culture, and finding ways to win with limited resources — remains central to how he operates today.
